About Cindy’s Studio
Can you visualize Cindy Gray taking one of her favorite paint brushes and dipping it into a limitless pallet of colors?  Can you imagine her mixing and splashing “wet” pixels onto a blank digital canvas?

For years there has been a relationship between artists and technology.  Great artists of the past harnessed whatever pigments, tools and technologies that were at their disposal to transfer imagery of a three-dimensional world onto a flat surface.  Cindy uses the latest technological advances in the fine art field of this day to create her one-of-a-kind works of art.

Whether working from nature or photographic references, Cindy begins by creating the basic design and composition.  She first makes a series of quick sketches to explore various visual potentials. She observes the shape and scale of her subject and the unity, balance and rhythm within the composition.  Once she is satisfied with an overall image, she transfers it to the digital canvas.  Turning to her mixer palette, she creates the colors she feels will best express herself and her impression of the subject.  A pressure sensitive tablet and stylus give way to the natural brushstrokes, supple blending of colors and rich textures she achieves in her original hand-painted works of art.  Once the painting is signed, she prints it to canvas.  The canvas is then personally hand coated and stretched.  Once it has had a chance to breath, Cindy continues to build up rich texture by applying acrylic paint.

Cindy is able to take a special moment captured in a photograph, then form and shape it by her artist’s interpretation into a “Portraits of heART for the soul”.  Whether it is a child being chased by the waves of the vast sea, an athlete driven by his love for the game, or a tender moment shared within the family circle, Cindy is able to capture the essence of the moment in an original hand-painted portrait to be treasured forever.
