Commissioning a Portrait

You can commission Cindy to do a portrait painting for you or someone you love.  Using the photographs you supply or the ones Cindy takes during a complimentary photo session, she will create an individual mixed-media piece of artwork through her choice of brush strokes, colors, composition, and texture.  You can either send a high-resolution digital image on a CD or a photograph.  Providing more than one image gives the artist the opportunity to study the subject from many different perspectives. 

The cost of commissioning a portrait by Cindy is $2,700 plus taxes and shipping.  Included in the commission are all sitting fees and one Giclee canvas print up to 22” X 27” (or an equivalent custom dimension) stretched and gallery wrapped onto a 3/4” frame.  Prints larger than 22” X 27” can be printed for an added fee.  If your commission requires travel, all travel and lodging expenses are in addition to the price listed above.  Cindy would also be glad to work with you on custom framing your piece; talk with her about pricing.

The commissioner will pay the artist in three equal installments. The first installment is due at the time of commission. Cindy will then create a compositional sketch for your approval. Once you are satisfied with the layout, the second installment is due. When the commission has been completed, you will be given the precise URL to enter the “Wet Paint” gallery of outofthegrayportraits.com website in order to view your finished work of art. The balance of the commission becomes due at that time. Once the final installment has been made, your portrait will then be transferred to canvas and arrangements for delivery will be made.

Each image is signed by the artist and shipped with an Artist Certificate of Authenticity. Commissions take two to three months from placement of the order.

Additional Prints
Additional prints of your commission are available.  These prints are great for grandparents, special gifts, offices, or heirloom keepsakes.  Each reprint to canvas will be hand coated and signed by Cindy.  A sample of our pricing is as follows:
