People, in general, are just really interesting to me, but when I see a person who wears their soul proudly for all to see, it really inspires me to paint them.

In this portrait, I was seeking to communicate the joy within this subject’s soul.  I was led toward painting in a more organic style.  Through its energetic brush work and saturated color palette, I wanted this work to give it’s viewers a sense of delight.

I appreciate art that goes beyond just a mere copy or likeness of a person to express the true essence of the one being painted.
